The Women’s Leadership Project #Standing4BlackGirls benefit concert in Arlington, MA featured an array of amazing musicians and audience members who gathered to support WLP. The concert kicked off with a mellifluous song cycle by Ella Faye, Tamia Elliott, Javen Lara and Ayel, who performed original music and spoken word selections. The second act featured jazz and spoken word artists Sanaa Cadet, Tiril Jackson and Marianthi. The WLP tribe contributed original poetry from Clay Wesley, an original song from Sikivu and spoken word poetry by the late Nikki Giovanni performed by Jessica Robinson. The concert concluded with the phenomenal Debo Ray and the Jazz and Gender Justice trio performing original and cover selections, then leading the audience in a rousing version of the #Standing4BlackGirls theme song.
