In early June, Sikivu wrapped the short film adaptation of “The Kinderness”, which is based on her 2025 play from last year’s Outliers: A Black Women’s Theater Showcase. “The Kinderness” focuses on a Black female Founder-Inventor (Melissa Kaye Bontempt) whose company deploys white androids to carry out reparationist missions for Black descendants. The company is on the verge of going public when its office is visited by a time traveler (Danni Cassette) who wants to eliminate her. The cast also features Stephanie Jackson, Jessica Robinson, April Audia and Stephen Kelley. The film was shot by acclaimed DP Sika Stanton.
