Sikivu was recently featured on the Dig podcast speaking on the cultural and social trajectory of Black women in the saga of Peoples Temple and Jonestown, amplified in her novel and play White Nights, Black Paradise. The podcast is a “sonic memorial to the Black women of the Peoples Temple”, focusing on their complex motivations for getting involved in the decades-long Peoples Temple movement. Black women comprised the predominant demographic in Peoples Temple, eventually emigrating to Jonestown, Guyana, where many died in the largest murder-suicide in American history.
