Written, produced and directed by Sikivu Hutchinson, Alpha Centauri* is a prevention education film focusing on the disproportionate impact of grooming and sex trafficking on Black girls and young Black women. Ryder, the film’s protagonist (Nicole Delorme), is an aspiring aerospace engineer and foster youth navigating mammoth life challenges in South L.A. with the help of her best friend and confidant, Daria “the destroyer” (Breanna Travis), a Black queer spoken word poet and Audre Lorde devotee.
