Sikivu’s country rock song “40 Acres, 40 Stories” will be among the innovative works included in the forthcoming Black Rock Coalition “Rock ‘N’ Roll Reparations” 40th anniversary compilation album. The BRC will debut the album at the December 7th Sawdust Festival in Brooklyn, New York. As the BRC notes, “the album features ‘Black Rock OG royalty’ Faith NYC, D-Xtreme, Corey Glover, Marque Gilmore, Tha Inna, Most Garland Jeffreys, Three5Human, V Jeffrey Smith (with his Electric Powered Soul project), Peter Lord, Honeychild Coleman, The 1865, Kim Nicky. And some new folks that are channeling legacies that we all can hear, see, and feel: Digg Deep SATE, 13th Law, AfroDiziac, Brad Walrond, Dionic, Elizabeth McCorvey, Franck Biyong, HalfEarth, Hip-Stir Replacement, Key Hutch, Lake Lanier, MAAFA, No Wespon, BKHC, Rebelmatic and Sikivu Hutchinson.”
“40 Acres, 40 stories” explores the legacy of the 1919 Red Summer and white supremacist female complicity in racial capitalism and the theft of Black generational wealth from Wilmington, NC and Elaine Arkansas to South L.A.
